Cervical cancer is one of the most
preventable cancers—and yet, thousands of women in India continue to be
diagnosed every year due to low awareness and limited access to the HPV
vaccine. The HPV vaccination, when given at the right age, can reduce the risk
of cervical cancer by up to 99%, making prevention the most powerful
tool we have.
To address this gap, the India Humanity
Foundation (IHF), in collaboration with the Cancer Patients Aid
Association (CPAA), has been conducting a series of cervical cancer
awareness and vaccination drives across schools in West Bengal. CPAA brings
medical expertise, while IHF ensures community mobilisation and engagement, and
coordinated implementation.
On 18th and 19th November 2025, cervical vaccination camps were organised in and around Kolkata covering over 600 girl students.
Voices From the Ground
“I didn’t know cervical cancer could be
prevented. The session gave me clarity and confidence.” – a parent said.
“The entire process—from counselling to
vaccination—was smooth and well-organised. The girls felt comfortable, and
parents appreciated the care taken.” – Altup Sekh,
Principal of Kheyadaha High School, South 24 Parganas.
These experiences show how informed communities make safer health decisions for their daughters.
