Lighting the Path to Change: IHF Scales Literacy in 61 Correctional Homes

Initially India Humanity Foundation (IHF) started its adult literacy program in 8 correctional homes of West Bengal. The program received strong interest and participation from inmate teachers, inmate learners, and welfare staff. Encouraged by the positive impact and systematic implementation, IHF received a second approval from the Directorate of Correctional Services, West Bengal to extend the program to additional 18 correctional homes. Building on this momentum, they have now granted a third approval to expand the program to 35 more correctional homes, taking the total to 61 correctional facilities across the state. As of now more than 2000 inmate learners have been enrolled in the program out of which 800 learners have completed the program.
