Sandip Agarwalla after completing his schooling from the Cathedral & John Connon School, Mumbai went on to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai and was ranked in the top 30 in the Bombay University. He was a holder of the National Merit Scholarship awarded by the Government of India. Academically he has always been a high achiever and is a member of Mensa International, a high-IQ Society.
Sandip is known to be a perfectionist with an eye for detail. He is firm believer of team play and believes in the dictum of “working together works”. Extremely meticulous and hardworking, he has often displayed that his single minded focus and determination can overcome all hurdles and obstacles in reaching his goals.
He is a successful serial entrepreneur having established several new Businesses in the last 42 years including mining of Marble and Granite and other associate minerals, Export and import of non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, ferro alloys, chemicals, minerals, coal and coke. He also started ventures well ahead of their time tying up with foreign companies in the fields of telemetry and tracking, end to end metering solution for utilities, RFID and solar power. He has also avidly supported his wife’s fashion accessories business.
Sandip Agarwalla is a third generation Rotarian and his relationship with Rotary began at the rather early age of 10 alongside his father. He joined the Rotary Club of Bombay at the age of 29 years, and went on to become it’s youngest President in its 96-year history. Sandip is renowned in the Rotary world for conceiving mega projects and executing them with aplomb.
He was elected as the District Governor of District 3141 of Rotary International for 22-23.
During his year he established new records by raising an amount of US$ 6.575 million for the Rotary Foundation. Not only is this the highest ever amount raised in India but it was the highest in the world in 2022-23 and the third highest amount ever raised in the history of the Rotary Foundation.
He was awarded Rotary’s Avenues of Service Award in 2016-17 by Rotary International. He was also the Ambassador Coordinator for all India for RAM (Rotarians against Malaria Action Group) - Global, responsible for eradication of malaria on an all-India basis. He is also a Trustee on Operation Eyesight and Rotary Club Bombay Charities Trust. He has been recently appointed the Branch Chair of the Mumbai Chapter of the English Speaking Union whose Patron-in-Chief is King Charles III of Great Britain and the President is The Princess Royal Anne Elizabeth.
