Sujata’s Inspiring Journey to Literacy

In rural West Bengal, where women often juggle farming and household chores, 23-year-old Sujata stands as a beacon of inspiration. Despite her initial doubts about learning to read and write at her age, she took a courageous step to join a literacy program which was implemented by the India Humanity Foundation in her village, in Canning Block of South 24 Pargana district of West Bengal.

“The methods were transformative,” Sujata says. “I can now write some words and read bus destinations, which has given me greater independence and mobility.”

Through literacy, Sujata has gained personal empowerment and respect within her community. Her story showcases the transformative power of literacy, proving that it’s never too late to learn and inspire others.
